The Smyrna C.B. Rescue Unit Inc. started in 1963 as a CB Radio club that provided radio communication for the Smyrna Police and Fire departments in time of emergencies for the citizens of Smyrna and North Rutherford County. In 1969 the Name was Changed to the Smyrna C.B. Rescue Unit Inc., providing Rescue services to the public free of charge. The Smyrna Rescue Unit is a All Volunteer rescue unit. Funds for operation of the rescue unit are obtained from donations, fund raiseres, and funds provided by the Rutherford County Goverment. Rescue equipment includes: Heavy Rescue Unit, Extrication Unit, Rescue Boats, . All Extrication Technicians are State of Tennessee certified through Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, State certified Instructors.
